Why do they have to grow up so fast?

Little miss Kenley got a retainer. Doesn't that come after braces, you may ask? Well in her case she has one front tooth that has an overbite and one that has an underbite. The dentist was concerned that she might chip or break a tooth if she continued to bite that way. We were referred to an orthodontist and this is what we can home with...

She kinda talks with a slur and is getting used to having something in her mouth all the time. Yep, I said all the time, she has to wear it 24 hours a day. She can only take it out to eat and brush her teeth. She's only had one mishap so far. The other day she had it on her lunch tray in a napkin and threw it away. She didn't remember until she was in line to go back to class. She told her teacher and luckily it was still in the top of the trash and she found it. That would have been an expensive piece of garbage. For the most part she is really responsible with it and does everything the doctor told her to do.

We think you look cute little miss!

I LOVE the retainer. I was always so jealous of the cute girls that had cool things like braces or retainers!

Miss Kenley ~ you look so cute with your new retainer. Nannie has had her braces on for over 4 years and I haven't got to have a retainer yet! :) I just want you to know you look so dang cute with it. I miss you all and can't wait to see you! Love your nannie

Ah, the dreaded retainer. Kali lost hers more than I can say. She also grew out of it so quickly that buying a new one was painful every time! Just so you know, you can clean them with the denture cleaner at Wal-mart instead of buying the expensive stuff from the dentist.

Poor Kanley! They hurt so bad! The one that I had gave me a sour in my mouth so I took it out one day And I couldn't find it the next. Having a retainer is not as bad as having braces though.
