"How about we keep this swimming thing a secret"

Okay, so I know that I have been posting a lot about what my kids have been saying to me lately, but I can't believe how funny they have been and how sweet also. Today I put Embry down for a nap and Brody and I went swimming. When we were walking back in the house he said,

Brod: "I really liked swimming with you today"
Me: "I know that was fun wasn't it?"
Brod: "Yep, lets do it again tomorrow"

It was so sweet but that was not the sweetest part. We came in the house and I was getting lunch ready and he said:

Brod: "Mom lets not tell the other kids that we went swimming today lets just tell them that we went in the sprinklers."
Mom: "Why Brody, that would be a lie."
Brod: "Well, how about we keep this swimming thing a secret"
Mom: "Why don't you want to tell the kids?"
Brod: "Cause they will be sad"

What a sweet boy, always thinking of others. I am so glad that I get to spend time with just him each day, he is so sweet and we have a great time together.

Okay while I was typing this he said something else so funny so I had to put it in:

(Brody holding a stem of grapes like a bouquet of flowers, eating lunch)
Brod: (not talking to anyone just saying it really quiet) "will you marry me? Will you marry me?"
Mom: "who are you asking to marry you?"
Brod: "you" (sly little smile)
Mom: "I would love to marry you, but I'm already married to daddy."
Brod: "Oh, no one's going to marry me"
Mom: "When you get home from your mission someone will"
Brod: "Hmm...I don't think I want to get married"

Brody you are the greatest, thanks for the laughs and such a fun day.

How old is she????

I was helping Kenley with her reading this afternoon and this was our conversation:
(me helping with words that she doesn't know occasionally)
Kenley: could you not tell me unless I ask? (with a teenager attitude)
Me: Okay (still looking at her and watching her read)
Kenley: I can figure this out. (with a teenager attitude again)
When did my 6 year old turn into a teenager? I'm really glad that she is trying to figure it out on her own, so I'm not complaining. I just thought it was funny how she said it to me. I'm seeing everyday that my kids are growing up way to fast.
Kenley also said to me today: I missed you today
Me: I know I haven't seen you all day.
Kenley: Yep! I'm a first grader.
Gotta Love It!

Sicky!

School has only been in session for three weeks and we already have one sicky. Kenley started feeling bad yesterday with a stomach ache. Her whole weekend down the tubes. I think she has some sort of flew bug. It's funny how having a sick child that is sleeping most of the day makes you really miss them. Kenley slept or stayed in her bed watching TV all day yesterday.

I MISSED HER SO MUCH! I would go up and check on her to see that she was okay, but we didn't have our energetic, bouncy, fun Kenley around all day. I really missed that. We hope you feel better soon Kenley, so that we can paint nails, color pictures, play dress up, put on make up, play with Embry and all the other fun stuff that you love to do.

Just a glimpse

Today Brock came home from school and this was our conversation:
Brock: Mom did you check my agenda?
Mom: No, Why?
Brock: Because these two people in Australia named their baby 4real.
Mom: What? Who told you that?
Brock: My Current Events teacher. The president of Australia told them that they can't name their baby a number, so they named him Superman instead.
Mom: (dieing laughing) Is this for real?
Brock: Yep, and she also told me that two people in China named their baby @, really the at sign on the computer, they named their baby that. (both of us really laughing now).
How wonderful is it to have a great conversation with your eight year old son about the things he learned at school. I am so excited to watch my kids grow and be able to carry on more conversations like this one with them. I got so much enjoyment out of a small moment in time. Thanks Brock for a great laugh today.

Still Homeless...

Full front view of our soon to be home, we hope!!
We finally have windows Yea!!
View from the kitchen to the family room.
View from the family room to the kitchen.
We have hopes to be in by Christmas, we are keeping our fingers crossed. The progress is slow but it is progress, right?

It's Official Brock's a Wolf

Brock just started Boy Scouts and at his first pack meeting he became a wolf along with his cousin Caden. Good work Brock and Caden we love you!

AHHHHH!! SHE'S MOBILE!

Embry learned how to crawl/pull herself up to things a couple weeks ago and she is the funniest crawler I have ever seen.
She tucks her right leg up under her belly so she will be able to sit at any moment. She crawls with her left leg and tucks her right leg and scoots.

Crawling with the left leg.

Tucking the right and scooting.

Getting ready to crawl with the left again.

Sitting again.

What a funny girl! She is all over the place and is ready to explore. This stage is so much fun and so much work, the stairs are her favorite place to be. Oh, to have my own baby proof home, that would be nice.

HAPPY 6TH BIRTHDAY KENLEY!!

Okay, so I am the worst mother in the world. Kenley's Birthday was August 8th and I'm just now posting about it. That's what you call a busy mom with four kids (one being 8 months old), trying to build a new home, not living in my own home, and in a scouting calling. But there is no excuse for it at all no matter how hard I try to come up with one. I really think that she had a great birthday or birthdays. She had three different parties and got presents at each one. How spoiled is she??? This is her on her actual birthday (also her second day of first grade). Opening her presents from us before she was off to school.
This is the Sunday before having a party with her Johnson family, more presents of course and a wonderful Barbie cake, thanks to Grandma Johnson and Aunt Kid.
Party number three at Makutu's Island with some of her close friends, cousins, Aunt Niki, Uncle Clay and Nannie and Grandpa Larson. They had so much fun playing in the huge tree house.
And yes there were more presents. I think she got everything that a six year old could possible want. Thanks to everyone that celebrated with us.

Happy Birthday Kenley, sorry this is so late, we love you and are so glad to have your fun, energetic, loving, happy, creative, caring sweet spirit in our family.

Love,

Mom

First Day of School

I am having issues with my posting abilities and could not get Brock's picture to post on the same post as Kenley and Brody. So here is his. Brock started 3rd grade this year and really enjoys his class so far (no homework yet). He is in the same class as a few of his good friends, we'll see how that goes, boys will be boys, right?

First Day of School

Our big first grader going to school all day. She gets to eat lunch at school and gets to have two recesses. She is so excited for first grade and loves her teacher. She has the same teacher as Brock did in first grade. Brock loved her and really learned how to read very well. We know you'll do great Kenley. Brody needed to have his first day of school picture also, por buddy doesn't start school for two more years.

Boys will be Boys

On July 31st our little Brody La slipped in the shower and busted his chin open. Dustin was out getting some groceries at the store while I bathed and got the kids ready for bed. Brody was in the shower and I heard the kind of cry that, as a mother, I knew it was not going to be good when I went in there. So I ran in and did a quick check and he seemed to be fine, but he had his hands on his chin. So I asked him to take them down and the blood started to drip. One look and I knew that we needed stitches. I called Dustin and he couldn't believe it, he left the cart full of groceries and met me at Urgent Care. One red Popsicle, a syringe full of numbing medicine, six stitches and a band aide later our little boy was all fixed up.

I'm so dumb, I didn't get a picture while he had the stitches in, but I did get this picture just after I, yep I took his stitches out (I didn't want to pay a doctor for something that I could do myself). He was such a brave boy and only cried when he first fell and cut his chin.

FUN IN CALIFORNIA

We had such a blast in Oceanside CA! We went with our Johnson side of the family and stayed in Condos on the beach. We had so much fun hanging out with family on the beach and visiting SeaWorld and Legoland. We made our traditional Mr. O sand castle and waited for the tide to knock it over. The kids were able to really boogy board for the first time and Dustin and I even caught some waves ourselves. Brody loved Legoland, there were entire cities made from pure legos, he cried when we left and said "Bye, Bye Legoland." Brock really enjoyed catching sand crabs and making homes for them. Kenley had fun playing with her cousins and hanging out in the jacuzzi, she was always cold. Embry got peaceful naps on the beach and sand in her diaper. We all had a great time and really enjoyed the company. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Johnson for allowing us to have such a great vacation.

Okay I am sooo late with posting this. Niki took Tamra and I to American Idol Live for our Birthday's! The show was in the middle of both of our Birthday's so she got us tickets.

We had such a blast and enjoyed each others company. Thank you Niki for getting us out of the house for a great birthday girls night.

Booth Reunion

This was our first Booth Reunion with out Grandpa Cucui. My Dad died of cancer in January of this year. We really miss him but tried our best to have fun and do all the things that he loved to do. Most of us arrived on July 13th, his birthday. We had his two favorite cakes, chocolate with vanilla frosting and vanilla with chocolate frosting. We love him so much and really miss him, but will stay close and continue to do the things he loved. Here are some of the fun activities that we did at our reunion. We Swam, jumped on the trampoline, did lots of eating, played darts (Dustin won), played the marble game, did lots of eating, had tea parties, painted fingernails and toenails, did lots of eating, played pool golf, went down the water slide, did lots of eating, played battle of the sexes and scene it (boys won), and played scum, oh did I mention we did lots of eating. My favorite part was when Julie (my stepmom) gathered all of the girls together and gave us shirts that said Got Elk? She told us about a trip that her and my Dad took, before he died, to Durango, Colorado. He saw this shirt and had to buy it for Julie, also known as Grandma Honeybee. When they got home he got to thinking that all of his girls needed one of those cool shirts, so he told Julie that the next time they went to Durango they needed to get us all one. They had a trip planned and he died about a week and a half before they were supposed to go. Julie still went on that trip with friends and she bought the shirts for all of us girls. It made me feel like I was getting a little part of him even though he was gone.

We had a blast. Of course it will never be the same without my Dad, but we have each other and we will always remember him. We love you Dad! Thanks for a great Family Reunion everyone, I hope there are many more to come.

Our little Hip Hopsters

My cousin Melanie teaches dance in Mesa and she held a Hip Hop Camp this summer. Brock and Kenley took the class with their cousins, Caden, Mikayla and Maija (Brody was not old enough this year). They all had a blast, don't they look like little ganstas?

CRAZY DAYS OF SUMMER!!!!

We have been so busy this summer with vacations and building our house that I have not had the time to do much of anything, forget about blogging. I will try not to get too lengthy but we have had so much fun in the past month that I'm afraid there will be many posts to come. So first things first; we decided to let Brody grow his hair out. He has learned from his BIG BROTHER that hair cuts are not fun and he does not want them. Luckily Brody has really cool hair and it looks good when it's kinda long. So we thought we would give it a shot for a little while. After his bath one night Dad had some fun with Brody's hair.

We love you Brody and we love your mohawk and fun new hair.
